3 Signs You’re Dangerously Dehydrated

It’s critical to stay hydrated when you work out—especially during the summer months. These 3 signs can help alert you that you could be dangerously dehydrated.

  1. An elevated heart rate
Your pulse will rise naturally with exercise. However, if your pulse is 15-20 beats above your target, your heart could be compensating for reduced blood volume by beating faster.

  2. Dizziness
If you’re dizzy when you move suddenly or change positions, blood might not be reaching your head quickly enough due to low blood volume.

  3. Sagging skin
To test your skin turgor for dehydration, simply pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it doesn’t snap back into place immediately, you need more fluid.
