Having high blood pressure (also known as hypertension) significantly increases your risk for serious health conditions, such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure and kidney disease. The best way to know if you have high blood pressure is to visit your doctor and have your numbers checked on a regular basis.
The Hypertension Management Program can help members monitor their blood pressure numbers at home with a blood pressure monitor at no out-of-pocket cost.*
Having a blood pressure monitor at home gives you the convenience to check your blood pressure as often as your doctor recommends and easily track your numbers, which you can share with your doctor. As part of this program, you're eligible to receive a new blood pressure monitor every two years.
As a member, you also have access to a variety of WebMD tools and resources that help you manage, monitor and understand your condition. These include:
- After we receive a claim from your provider indicating you have hypertension (the claim must be for services during the current year and hypertension must be the primary diagnosis), you will automatically be enrolled in the Hypertension Management Program.
- We'll send you a letter with instructions on how to get your blood pressure monitor.
*You must be 18 or older to receive this benefit.
