Your Pre-Annual Physical Checklist

Follow these steps to help get yourself organized before your physical.

Have you prepared for your upcoming physical? We put together this checklist to help you gather everything you need before you head to your doctor’s office.

  1. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and, if possible, try to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
  2. Don’t forget your member ID card.
  3. Create a list of questions to ask your doctor—specific concerns, treatments or anything else that’s on your mind.
  4. Make a note of any over-the-counter or prescribed medications you’re currently taking.
  5. Drink plenty of water to prepare for a blood test or urinalysis.
  6. You should not eat anything for 12 hours prior to your appointment if you’re getting a blood test.
  7. Dress comfortably—try to wear two-piece garments, especially if you’re having a mammogram.
  8. Follow any directions you were given prior to your appointment, especially if it’s for a colonoscopy or upper endoscopy.
  9. Just relax—you’re taking a big step to improve your health.

Eligible members* of our FEP Blue Focus plan will also have exclusive access to our Routine Annual Physical Incentive Program. This program offers you rewards, such as healthy meals delivered to your door or a 4-month gym membership, just for getting a physical.

*You must be the contract holder or spouse, 18 or older, on an FEP Blue Focus Plan to be eligible for this benefit.
