How To Clean Your Glasses

To a glasses-wearer, there’s nothing worse than dirt, dust and smudges that lead to scratches and damaged lenses. When spending more time outside in the nicer weather, you shouldn’t neglect your specs. Cleaning your glasses (even sunglasses) regularly is the best way to keep them looking great and keep you seeing clearly.

  1. Wash and dry your hands.
Don’t skip this step! You don’t want to transfer any germs from your hands to your glasses.
  2. Rinse your glasses under a gentle stream of lukewarm water.
Run warm water over your glasses to help get rid of dust and other potential lens scratchers.
  3. Wipe glasses down.
Use a microfiber cloth instead of a hard dish towel or paper towel to wipe them down. These are made for your glasses and it’s especially important to be gentle on those expensive lenses.
  4. Apply a small drop of cleaning solution or dish soap.
Gently rub the solution on the lens surface and make sure to rinse it off afterwards.
  5. Dry them off.
Shake off the excess water droplets and take a close look to make sure you’ve got them as clean as can be.
