Members of the Service Benefit Plan can obtain access to independent information on hospitals by procedure or diagnosis within a specific area. Measures displayed for these hospitals are: the number of patients treated at each hospital (patients/yr), the percentage of patients who died (mortality), the percentage of patients who developed problems (complications) and the average number of days people stay in each hospital (length-of-stay).

Blue Distinction® Centers
Blue Distinction® is a designation awarded by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality healthcare under objective selection criteria. To date, Centers have been established in four areas of specialty care: Bariatric Surgery, Cardiac Care, Complex and Rare Cancers and Transplants.
