One in eight women will have breast cancer during their lifetime. Family history of the disease increases your risk. Early detection is the key to protecting yourself against breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society recommends a mammogram yearly for women 40 and older. A mammogram is an X-ray of your breasts that can detect tissue abnormalities long before a self-exam would find them.
Mammograms are covered under your insurance, so as long as you use a Preferred provider for the test, you have no out-of-pocket expenses.
To schedule your appointment:
- Call your primary doctor and ask for a mammogram
- Use your health plan’s participating image center
- Schedule your appointment and keep it
